4 Creative Ways to Hang Posters Without Making a Hole in the Wall
Your rental agreement says ‘no’ to nails in the wall?
How boring! Luckily, there are plenty of other ways you can hang up posters! Take a look at our list for some creative inspiration.
Lean frames against the wall
Framed art pieces make any room feel sophisticated. Even if you can’t hang them up the traditional way, it’s still possible to display framed prints. Just frame your posters and lean them against your walls!
It works well to lean posters on top of dressers, especially if they’re smaller. Then, you arrange other items around them such as jewellery boxes or vases. Alternatively, if you have a bench you could use, push it against the wall and line up posters on it. This is a lovely technique that allows you to play with different heights in your interior. It usually makes spaces appear bigger too!
Or, if your posters are really big, you could just lean them on the wall from the floor. This casual approach looks effortless and cool. It also makes posters really easy to change around. This interior design choice is popping up everywhere nowadays, and not just for those who are renting!
Magnetic boards to get creative
Our next tip gives you the flexibility to display lots of prints at once!
Get yourself a magnetic board. These are readily available online, at homeware stores, or stationery shops. Choose your size dependent on how many items you’d like to display on it. Then, arrange small posters, photographs, and other art objects on the board however you’d like! You can also get creative with the magnets. Could you draw colours from the posters you display and buy magnets in that scheme?
Again, it’s easy to lean the board against your wall, be it from the ground or on top of a desk or dresser. Change the formation of your posters depending on how you’re feeling!
Use hidden adhesive
There are loads of things on the market that allow you to stick posters to the wall without using nails. These include adhesive putty and velcro or magnetic strips.
This tip is a bit more straightforward and a good option if you want to let the poster do all the talking. Just make sure you don’t damage your posters by moving them around too often when unprotected by a frame.
Stick up your posters using decorative tape
Alternatively, stick posters to the wall using adhesive tape. Just like the magnets, use the same coloured tape as the accents in the design. This way, it will be obvious that the tape is a design choice rather than last resort.
This tip can look really cool if you do it right. So, experiment with different types of tape before landing on the one you go for. This also works great for gallery walls! Or, mix and match this idea with others on the list. A framed poster next to one taped up is that perfect mix between cool and sophisticated.
When it comes to hanging posters, you have so many options to choose from! And, they all subtly change the way a room feels. So, choose wisely! But more importantly, have some fun with it!
